I Don’t Know Why I Remember…

1. Scan your memories for things that have stuck with you for no obvious reason (try to stay away from large events: births, deaths, etc.)
2. Make a list of these events. Use the phrase “I don’t know why I remember…” Don’t explain or interpret, render. Put the reader there. Show this image/moment exactly. Describe it.
3. Take one moment from this list and expand. Try to transfer the emotions you were feeling onto the page (and therefore onto the reader).
